AISTS was founded in 2000 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), IMD Business School, the University of Lausanne, the University of Geneva, the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP), Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud.

Every year AISTS organises the AISTS MSA (Master of Advanced Studies) in Sports Administration and Technology, a unique postgraduate programme where participants are trained by experts in sports and academics, in the following multidisciplinary fields applied directly to sport:
• Management & Economics
• Technology
• Law
• Sociology
• Medicine

The best academic and technology institutes of Switzerland; the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Lausanne (UNIL), University of Geneva and the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP), cooperate to offer participants this rich education programme.

Who is this programme for? The AISTS MSA is aimed at sports-minded professionals wishing to broaden their knowledge in sport administration. The programme helps participants achieve a stronger skill set for their existing or desired career in the sports industry.

What does the programme consist in? In total, this one year programme includes 7 months in the classroom, 8 weeks for work experience at a minimum and the remainder of time dedicated to the research paper.

Who is the typical participant of this programme?
Typically, an AISTS MSA participant is 30 years old and has 5 years of work experience. Participants in the programme come from all over the world, and from various academic and professional backgrounds, but they all share one goal: to play a key role in the future of the sports industry.
